How to Find a Good Lash Lift Artist: A Step by Step Guide

Summer is here, and if you live in Minnesota like me, you know this is our prime social time after slowly coming out of winter hibernation!

The good news: the days are longer, we get to see our friends more and meet new people!

The bad news: there’s more pressure to look “good” or have that “summer body.” (Even though all of our bodies are summer bodies, because f*ck that fatphobic sh*t!)

➟Maybe you’ve been itching to switch up your look for the summer…

➟Maybe you’ve been wanting to “glow up” as the kids say ;)

➟Maybe you’re just sick of putting on mascara and sweating it off! Especially in this summer heat!

If you want darker, fuller lashes but want a more natural look than lash extensions can provide…a lash lift with a trusted esthetician is the perfect service for you!

Imagine finding the most natural-looking, clump-free mascara that makes your lashes stronger, longer, and fuller…

Okay, now imagine how it would feel to have your lashes look like that, WITHOUT putting it on and taking it off every day! A lash lift is a “lazy” girl’s dream treatment, since it takes a few extra steps out of our beauty routines. 🙂

You can expect a typical lash lift to last about 4-6 weeks, but my Keratin Lash Lift and Tint treatment will gently curl and lift your lashes for 6-8 weeks. The Keratin Infusion helps your lashes grow longer, fuller, and stronger; and paired with the lash tint, you get the benefits of wearing the most perfect mascara without the annoying experience of washing it off!

I can’t think of anything more satisfying than getting to rub your eyes without messing up your makeup!!

Now that you’re curious about lash lifts, you might be wondering, “Where do I find a professional lash lift artist near me?”

You could google “lash lift near me” and pick the first person you see…

…or drudge through the hundreds of results and paid ads and get overwhelmed…

…or you could follow this easy to understand, step-by-step guide on how to find your perfect lash lift artist match!

Step 1: Light research

The internet is overwhelming, and Google is constantly changing its search algorithms.

If you have an Instagram or similar social media account, hashtags can be a great tool to use when looking for lash lift artists in your area!

  1. Go to the search tab on Instagram/Tiktok

  2. Enter your city name + the words “lash lift”

  3. Click “tags” on the top menu

  4. Explore the various reels and pictures under that tag

  5. Look at the comments on the post and see if there are any questions that have been answered by the creator!

  6. Want more to look at? Try other combinations of words like “your city name + eyelash perm” or “your city name + lash lift and tint” or even “eyelash lift and tint” for other results!

if you feel overwhelmed try asking yourself some questions:

➟ Do any pictures make you feel a little jealous? Jealousy is a useful emotion because it helps us realize what we care about! If you find a lash lift results pic that gets your heart racing, you know you’ve found an artist you resonate with!

➟ What’s the vibe of the lash artist/esthetician? Do they seem friendly or uppity?

➟ Are they up front with their pricing?

Step 2: Look at reviews

The best way to get a well rounded idea of your potential lash artist is by looking at their reviews! People who write reviews are usually passionate about the service they received; whether it was really great or really…not great.

If you have any questions that you’re too scared to ask the artist, someone else has probably addressed that question in a review!

Reviews may be found on Google, Yelp, and/or the esthetician’s website. A lash artist/esthetician with 5 reviews is not going to be as reliable as someone with 100+ reviews.

(Check out my Google reviews here!)

*Technology tip → If the artist you’re looking at has multiple services and a lot of reviews, press Command + F (on a mac) or Control + F (on a windows computer) and search “lash lift” to pull up the reviews specific to lash lift services 🙂

Step 3: Check their socials

You can learn a lot about a lash lift artist by looking at their social media!

Especially if you care about your service provider’s values and political alignment, (like whether or not they’re LGBTQ+ friendly!!) Study their work and save photos that are your faves.

In this day and age, most lash lift artists/estheticians will be on social media because they need to self promote their small business!

Larger traditional salons might offer lash services too (and are less likely to use social media as regularly) but why would you want to support a corporation when you can support a small business owner! ;)

Step 4: Don’t be afraid to ask questions

Whether you reach out through Instagram DMs or email, you can ask things like:

➟ How long have you been licensed?

➟ How long does your lash lift service last?

➟ What certifications do you have?

➟ What brand(s) or product(s) do you use?

➟ What’s your availability?

All states have different certification requirements, but in Minnesota, you must have a cosmetology, esthetician, or eyelash technician license to legally perform a lash lift.

Our eyes are an important body part!! You’ll feel a lot less anxiety going into a new service like this with an experienced esthetician/lash artist you trust.

Bonus tip: Don’t be afraid of new lash lift artists!

New artists can be great, plus we all had to start somewhere! Typically, newer artists will have cheaper lash lift prices and/or will give you discounts for being some of their first clients! :)
